ENARSI 1.9 Troubleshoot EIGRP

EIGRP sits inside domain 1.0 Layer 3 Technologies, which is 35% of the exam. The verb is troubleshoot, in both classic and named mode. Expect exhibits of show ip eigrp neighbors, show ip eigrp topology and show ip protocols where you must find the fault, metric and variance calculations, and simulation tickets where a neighbor is down or a backup path has gone missing. This module gives you the concepts, works every metric from a real topology, and builds a ten-ticket break/fix lab on one five-router named-mode network.

Objective Verb Page
1.9.a Address families (IPv4, IPv6), classic and named mode Troubleshoot Address Families and Named Mode
1.9.b Neighbor relationship and authentication (MD5, HMAC-SHA-256) Troubleshoot Neighbors and Authentication
1.9.c Loop-free path selection (RD, FD, FC, successor, feasible successor, stuck in active) Troubleshoot DUAL, SIA and Stubs
1.9.d Stubs Troubleshoot DUAL, SIA and Stubs
1.9.e Load balancing (equal and unequal cost) Troubleshoot Metrics and Load Balancing
1.9.f Metrics (classic and wide, K values) Troubleshoot Metrics and Load Balancing

Time budget: week 16 of the study plan. Days 1 and 2: address families and neighbors, with lab tickets 1 to 5. Days 3 and 4: DUAL, SIA and stubs, tickets 6 and 7. Day 5: metrics and load balancing, tickets 8 to 10, working every calculation on paper before checking the router. Day 6: the quiz and the related simulations.

The module lab

All ten tickets run on one baseline, built in the first lab: five IOSv routers, EIGRP named mode CORP AS 100, dual stack, HMAC-SHA-256 on the core links, MD5 to a stub branch, and an unequal-cost backup path into the data centre. Save the baseline once and reload it before each ticket.

Ticket Page Fault area
1, 2 Address families IPv6 interface disabled, network statement
3, 4, 5 Neighbors and authentication Key chain, HMAC password, ACL and RTP
6, 7 DUAL and stubs Stub on the wrong router, feasibility condition
8, 9, 10 Metrics and load balancing Variance, K values, interface bandwidth

When you finish, take the EIGRP practice questions. Aim for 80% or better before moving on to OSPF.
