ENCOR 3.3 IP Services (part of Infrastructure, 30%)

IP Services sits inside the Infrastructure domain, the heaviest domain on the exam at 30%. It mixes every kind of verb: interpret for time protocols, configure for NAT and FHRP, and describe for multicast. Expect show-output exhibits for NTP, configuration simulations for NAT/PAT and HSRP, and concept or matching questions for multicast. NAT and HSRP are two of the most likely lab items on the whole exam, so practise typing them until they are automatic.

Objective Verb Page
3.3.a Network time protocol configurations such as NTP and PTP Interpret NTP and PTP
3.3.b NAT/PAT: static, dynamic, PAT (overload), address terms, order of operations Configure NAT and PAT
3.3.c First hop redundancy protocols such as HSRP and VRRP: versions, priority, preempt, tracking, authentication, timers Configure HSRP and VRRP
3.3.d Multicast: RPF check, PIM SM, IGMPv2/v3, SSM, bidir, MSDP Describe Multicast

Time budget: week 6 of the study plan. A suggested split for 8 to 10 hours:

Day Topic Focus
1 NTP and PTP Read associations and status output; break NTP authentication in the lab
2 NAT and PAT Type static, dynamic and PAT configs from memory; order of operations
3 HSRP and VRRP HSRPv2 with tracking, then rebuild as VRRP; compare defaults
4 and 5 Multicast Addressing and MAC mapping, IGMP, RPF, PIM-SM tree building; SSM, bidir and MSDP as concepts
6 Labs and quiz Sim 06 and Sim 07 against the clock, then the practice questions

When you finish, take the IP Services practice questions. Aim for 80% or better before moving on.
