ENSLD 4.0 Network Services (20%)¶
Network Services is a design domain. You will be given a business requirement and asked to choose a QoS model, a management architecture, or a multicast design, and to say what breaks if you choose another. Command syntax matters only where it clarifies a trade-off. Mechanics are taught in the ENCOR and ENARSI modules, and each page below links to them.
| Objective | Verb | Page |
|---|---|---|
| 4.1 QoS strategies based on business requirements (DiffServ, IntServ) | Choose | QoS strategy |
| 4.2 End-to-end QoS policies: classification and marking, shaping, policing, queuing | Design | End-to-end QoS policies |
| 4.3 Network management techniques: in-band vs out-of-band, segmented management, prioritising management traffic | Design | Network management design |
| 4.4 Multicast routing concepts: source trees, shared trees, RPF, rendezvous points | Explain, choose | Multicast design |
| 4.5 Services based on multicast: SSM, PIM bidirectional, MSDP | Choose | Multicast design |
Time budget: See the study plan: study plan. Allow about two hours per page, including the design exercise.
Related practice: the ENCOR QoS and multicast pages cover the mechanics. For visual reinforcement, see the ENCOR diagram library (QoS trust boundary, SSM, RPF check) and the ENCOR sims.
When you finish, take the Network Services practice questions. Aim for 80% or better before moving on.
