Scenario¶
After an acquisition, the new site's area 34 was connected to R3, which has no link into area 0. A virtual link across transit area 23 between R2 and R3 joins area 34 to the backbone. Separately, a partner extranet router R5 sits in area 25. Area 25 must be a totally NSSA: R5 redistributes the partner network as a type 7 LSA, and receives only a default route plus intra-area routes from the ABR R2. R1 is the Internet edge and originates a default route into OSPF.
